October 26 Morning Message

Aloha Kakahiaka (Good Morning to You)!

Many of you have been curious enough to ask me if I learned to speak Hawaiian while I lived on O‘ahu. I love how interested you are in getting to know me better and appreciate that you feel comfortable enough to ask. I actually did not learn how to speak fluently in Hawaiian, but I did learn a few words, expressions, and songs that I would be happy to share. Here are some of my favorite words and expressions that I learned to say. See if you can guess why they are so special to me.

Aloha au ia oe – I love you
Honu – Turtle
Mālama Honua – To care for the Earth

Have a splendid day and weekend,

Mrs. Gibbs-Wilborn
