Morning Message for November 18

Dear Students,
Welcome back from the weekend. There are only two more weeks left in the month of November and then we will be moving closer to a new season. Do you know that winter is right around the corner?

November is a month where many holidays are celebrated, and one of them is Native American Heritage Month, which provides us with a focused time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of indigenous people to America. This week I will share with you some important fun facts about various people and tribes that were indigenous to our country. I hope it will help you understand how important these individuals were to the world we live in today.

Love, Mrs. Gibbs-Wilborn

Did you know that the popular game of lacrosse was invented by the Algonquian tribe in the 1600s? Traditional lacrosse games often lasted several days and there may have been as many as 100 to 1,000 men from opposing tribes on a team! Can you imagine that game?
