Happy Math Morning!
Today, this young boy is honoring a man who was a brilliant scientist and inventor, George Washington Carver. Also known as “Peanut Man” or “the Plant Doctor”, Dr. Carver did not invent peanut butter as some people think. He was so smart, that he was able to come up with 300 different ways to use the peanut. He grew to be a famous botanist (plant scientist) and teacher at Tuskegee Institute and we still remember his legacy today.
If Dr. Carver wrote down 200 ways he used the peanut, how many ways remain?
Can you estimate how many peanuts the boy in the picture is holding?
What strategy did you use?
